The Six Region 14 Federalizes After Presenting at the AMET Conference

Mary Jo, Rod, Jessica, Karen E., Janet, and Joann

Awesome AMET Conference Presentation

Today I attended a session entitled STEM Camp: Girls Can. This was an awesome session encouraging girls to enter the STEM Endorsement. Two migrant students pictured below got a chance to talk about their experiences as migrant workers and have the support of "Migrants in Action" and Ignite Public Schools to achieve and believe that they can become doctors or engineers.

Online College and Career Readiness Resource Center

Five consultants from Region 14 attended an awesome training in Austin October 2nd and 3rd, 2014. TEA provided us with training on the new Online College and Career Readiness Resource Center information. This is a great tool for counselors, administrators, teachers, parents, and students. It explains the many aspects of what it takes to graduate in our ever changing schools. This tool explains how it needs to be a team working for each and every student to provide them with skills, starting in Elementary school to achieve their goals. I am so excited about this opportunity to provide training on this new tool. I am providing the link so that everyone can explore the site, get excited, and learn something new. We will be providing training soon. Stay tuned. Once you are on this webpage click on OCCRC button and choose Take the course. You can start at the beginning or choose an area of interest. Happy searching.

Foundation Graduation Plan and Endorsements

We had a great training on HB5 and the Foundation Graduation Plan today. Vicki Hayhurst, our CTE consultant and myself learn from the great questions ask at every session. Who would have thought that science and art could go hand and hand? Well guess what, it can and does with this new graduation plan. Please get excited about the plan and ask us if you need help deciding what endorsements you can provide for your students. Even our very small districts are offering more than one endorsement. This is an exciting time in education and will provide skills for all students; those furthering their education at colleges, universities, trade schools, or in the workforce. Let us help you make this marriage of CTE and Academics work for your district.

Enjoy the pictures taken at Region 14 ESC's Block Fest taken in May 2014. The parents, consultants, and children all had a blast learning through block play.
